Why HR belongs next to your projects

In construction, people data is operational data. Who is certified for confined-space work decides who can be assigned tomorrow — and an expired certificate is a site-stop risk, not a filing problem.

One file per person

Contact details, contract, role, cost rate, documents and history in a single employee record.

Certificates that never lapse quietly

Track qualifications and medical checks with expiry dates and reminders before they run out.

Absences without the group chat

Leave, sick days and time off requested, approved and visible to whoever plans the crews.

Cost rates that feed job costing

Each employee carries a cost rate, so hours logged in the field turn into real labour cost automatically.

HR software for construction: what actually matters

Generic HR tools are built for office staff — org charts, performance reviews, engagement surveys. A contractor needs something different: proof that the person on site today is legally allowed to be there, doing that work, with valid training.

RelayPlan Human resources is built around that reality. Every employee record holds the contract, the qualifications with their expiry dates, medical checks, issued equipment and the cost rate used for job costing. When a certificate is 30 days from expiry, someone gets told.

Because the same records drive Scheduling and Time tracking, planning a crew and paying them correctly come from one dataset. No parallel personnel spreadsheet, no surprise on an inspection day.

Human resources — FAQ

RelayPlan is not a payroll engine — it is the operational layer around it. It holds records, contracts, certificates, absences and cost rates, and exports clean hour and absence data to whatever payroll system you use.
Each qualification or medical check can carry an expiry date. RelayPlan flags anything approaching expiry — 30 days ahead by default — so you can arrange renewal before the person becomes unassignable.
Only the roles you allow. Permissions are granular: a site lead can see who is qualified and available without seeing cost rates, contracts or personal documents.
Yes. Employees can request leave from the mobile app; the approver is notified and the approved absence immediately shows up for whoever plans assignments.
Yes. Contracts, certificates, ID scans and signed policies attach directly to the employee record, so nothing depends on someone’s inbox.
Yes. External workers can be recorded with their own contract type and certificates so they appear in planning and compliance checks alongside your own staff.
Each employee has a cost rate. When hours are approved in Time tracking, they convert to labour cost at that rate and post to the project cost centre — no separate calculation.
